Some collaborations become part of your story. For Studio Picante, Northern Nights x Dirtybird Campout is one of them.
After leading the creative direction of Dirtybird Campout from 2018 to 2022, the collaboration paused during the pandemic. When Empire acquired Dirtybird and a new chapter began by bringing the festival together with Northern Nights Music Festival, Studio Picante was invited back to help shape the creative direction of the merged experience.
Following our return in 2025, the 2026 edition marked the studio's second consecutive year as part of the festival team.
The result is something unique within the North American festival landscape. Set among the redwoods of Northern California, Northern Nights x Dirtybird Campout brings together an exceptional electronic music lineup with the playful spirit of summer camp. Across several days, more than 10,000 attendees experience performances, river culture, wellness programming, and activities ranging from tug-of-war and floatie races to yoga, meditation, and countless moments that make the festival unlike any other.
The campaign extends far beyond creating graphics.

Developed over approximately nine months, almost like giving birth to a new edition each year, the work requires close collaboration with marketing, production, booking, sponsorship, and the festival team as the creative direction evolves from early concepts into hundreds of physical and digital touchpoints.
The scope spans social media, advertising, merchandise, environmental graphics, signage, maps, schedules, print production, stage assets, on-site communications, and the countless details required to keep a festival of this scale visually cohesive from the first announcement to the final day on site.
One of the greatest creative challenges is balancing two established identities. Northern Nights brings its deep connection to nature, community, and independent festival culture. Dirtybird Campout contributes its unmistakable sense of humor, playful spirit, and long-standing place within the electronic music scene. The goal is not simply to combine two brands, but to create an experience where both coexist naturally and strengthen one another.
